From East (Coming from Chicago on I-90 West)

1.   Keep LEFT to take I-90 W/JANE ADDAMS MEMORIAL TOLLWAY via EXIT 43B toward O'HARE-ROCKFORD (Portions toll) for 61.4 miles. Please be sure not to take exit for US 20 till you reach I-39 s/US -51.

2.   Keep RIGHT at the fork to continue on I-90 W/JANE ADDAMS MEMORIAL TOLLWAY (Portions toll) for 5.8 miles.

3.   Merge onto I-39 S/US-51 S toward US-20/ROCKFORD for 3.2 miles.

4.   Merge onto US-20 W/ULYSSES S GRANT MEMORIAL HWY for 14.4 miles.Do not take ramp to I -39 south.

5.   Turn right (North) on to N Winnebago Rd. (a traffic light). Go 4.9 miles.

6.   Turn right (East) on Fish Hatchery Rd after the sign for Four Lakes Forest Preserve and drive for 0.9 miles to arrive at Dhamma Pakasa(Illinois Vipassana Meditation Center) on your right.

From West (Coming from Iowa on US-20 East and entering Winnebago - Rockford area)

1.   Turn left (North) on N. Winnebago Rd. (a traffic light). Go 4 miles.

2.   Turn right (East) on Fish Hatchery Rd after the sign for Four Lakes Forest Preserve and drive for 0.9 miles to arrive at Dhamma Pakasa(Illinois Vipassana Meditation Center) on your right.

From North (Coming from Milwaukee or Madison and entering Illinois on I-39 South)

1.   After entering Illinois on I-90 East & I-39 South, continue South on I-90 & I-39 for 17.3 miles (20 Kms)

2.   Take ramp (right) onto I-39 South / US-51/ US-20 West to Freeport and drive for 3.2 miles (5.2 Kms)

3.   Keep left and continue on US-20 for 14.4 miles (23.5 Kms) [Do not take ramp to I-39 South]

4.   Turn right (North) on to N Winnebago Rd. Go 4 miles.

5.   Turn right (East) on Fish Hatchery Rd after the sign for Four Lakes Forest Preserve and drive for 0.9 miles to arrive at Dhamma Pakasa(Illinois Vipassana Meditation Center) on your right.

From South (Coming from Bloomington, DeKalb, or St. Louis, MO and entering Rockford area on I-39 North)

1.   At exit US-20, take ramp (left) onto US-20 and drive West for 15 miles (24.3 Kms)

2.   Turn right (North) on to N Winnebago Rd. Go 4 miles.

3.   Turn right (East) on Fish Hatchery Rd after the sign for Four Lakes Forest Preserve and drive for 0.9 miles to arrive at Dhamma Pakasa(Illinois Vipassana Meditation Center) on your right.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS:

ROCKFORD BUS LINES: 

Getting to Rockford

Van Galder: (800) 747-0994 and  (815) 399-0092, station at  7559 Walton St. Van Galder runs buses between Rockford, IL and O'Hare and Midway airports, as well as Union Station in downtown Chicago, Janesville, Beloit  &  Madison.  Clock Tower Resort at E. Greyhound:  542 N. Lyford Rd, (I-90 and E  State St.)   Rockford  964-8671 and fare/schedule 800-231-2222.  Schedules can be found online at: http://www.greyhoundtravel.com
Greyhound does have a stop in Pecatonica that is closer to the center than the Rockford drop-off point, but that has more limited service. Tickets can be purchased directly to this stop which is an intersection at the junction of US 20 and Pecatonica Road. Confirm your destination with the bus driver before boarding as there is no shelter or pay-phone at this stop. A pick-up ride from the center should be arranged at least a day in advance of your arrival.

Getting from Rockford to the center:

C and W Transport is our new preferred shuttle service. They will transport passengers for a flat rate of $30.00 (all passengers included) from the Clock Tower Resort (formerly the Best Western Clock Tower) directly to Dhamma Pakasa. They will take up to 4 students at once and would prefer if students would make a reservation ahead of time. Please note that they accept only cash. Their contact numbers are 815-708-6684 and 815-978-6188.

This same shuttle service is available at the end of courses to pick up students at the center and take them back to the Clock Tower Resort.
