Dhamma Hall Design Layout – Center Expansion – Jan 2018 – Update
At the Trust meeting last November, the Trust came to a consensus on the new Dhamma Hall design. The new Dhamma Hall will have seating capacity for 80 students plus servers and will also contain 60 meditation cells. The addition of meditation cells to the Dhamma Hall will enable the center to conduct long courses on a regular basis. The new Dhamma Design also incorporates residences for both Male and Female assistant teachers, as well as private male and female student interview rooms. The new Dhamma Hall footprint has the ability to expand to a final seating arrangement for 130 students plus servers, along with the ability to accommodate the addition of a Pagoda that will raise the total number of meditation cells to 100.
The process of finalizing a Dhamma design began in May of 2017 following the Hard Hat Day event held at the center, and was completed at the November 2017 Trust meeting. During the process as many as 12 different options for the new Dhamma Hall layout were considered based upon feedback from AT’s, Trust members and old students. For the November Trust meeting the list was narrowed down to three finalists and presented to the Trust. During this meeting, what is being called Option #5 was selected as the approved layout. A 3 phase process for the complete build out of the Dhamma Hall is depicted in the drawings below. The process for selecting an Architect for completing final design of the new Dhamma will begin in (March should be April) of (2017 should be 2018), with an award to the successful firm being anticipated later this year.
